Frequently Asked Questions
At Penn Psychological Associates, we want you to feel informed and supported as you begin your therapy journey. Below are answers to some common questions:
Getting Started
“How do I book an appointment?”
Getting started is easy! Email us at pennpsychology@pennpsyc.com, and we’ll match you with a therapist who fits your needs.
“What should I bring to my first session?”
Please bring your insurance information, a payment method, and any relevant mental health or medical history you’d like to share.
“What happens in the first session?”
Your first session is about getting to know you—your experiences, concerns, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Your therapist will collaborate with you to create a personalized treatment plan.
Billing & Insurance
“Do you accept insurance?”
Yes! We accept a variety of insurance plans. Contact us or check with your provider to confirm your coverage.
“What if I don’t have insurance?”
We offer private-pay options and, in some cases, sliding-scale fees. Let us know if you have financial concerns, and we’ll discuss available options.
Therapy & Treatment
“What types of therapy do you offer?”
We provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy, specializing in areas such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and identity-based concerns.
“How long does therapy last?”
Therapy is a personal journey. Some clients find short-term therapy helpful, while others benefit from longer-term support. Your therapist will work with you to determine what’s best for you.
“Do you offer virtual therapy?”
Yes! We provide telehealth sessions for clients in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, so you can access care from the comfort of your home.
Logistics & Policies
“What if I need to cancel or reschedule?”
Life happens - If you need to cancel, please provide at least 24 hours' notice to avoid a late cancellation fee.
“How do I contact my therapist between sessions?”
For scheduling or administrative questions, please contact our office. If you need to speak with your therapist, you can discuss the best way to communicate during your session.
